Salt is a staple in every culture and tradition.
Salt’s main use is absorbing all the shit inside and around you, which helps with cleansing and protection.
Salt absorbs fast, but after that it must be thrown away, otherwise, it’ll transform from healer to killer. So, world-beloved salt lamps actually have a month-long lifespan.
A popular feng-shui salt remedy (salt + water + coins) is meant to sit in one spot for a year, but you must clear, balance, and harmonize that space beforehand.
A salt-cleansing practice in Vastu tradition is to place a bowl with a pound of salt in every sector (except Brahmastan), plus you can add herbs and spices according to each sector, for a month. In my experience in the modern world, you can shorten that timeline.
My perfect formula is to place 8oz of salt + camphor + pepper (if you have pets, place camphor and spices under the salt because it’s toxic) around the perimeter and in every weak spot of your apartment, leave it for three days, and throw it away. In a week, you can repeat the cleansing.

Clean dreams: two big ceramic vases + 9 garlic bulbs and 8oz of pepper on the bottom + several pounds of salt to fill the vases. Place them on both sides of your bed-head. It won’t cleanse your mind but will keep entities at bay. Change once a month. For extra help, you can place a palm-sized cluster of smoke quartz, but after that it must be cleansed in dirt for another month, so in total you’ll need four clusters to replace one pair with another one. You can cleanse stones in plant pots. Both plants and stones love it! If your plant dies, that means the stone took something serious from you. Thank the plant and the stone, throw away the plant and the pot, return the dirt to the earth and the stone to the lake/river/sea.

Clean body: in equal proportions, mix salt you prefer for cosmetic purposes with Epsom salt; add oil (evening primrose + sea buckthorn + pomegranate seeds are my choice); essential oils (neroli + patchouli + cloves are my choice); natural soap base (PURE castile soap made with olive oil and sea salt). You can also add herb powders like nettle, chamomile, lavender, rose, etc. Mix well and use anytime you feel bad after ‘dealing’ with someone. Put it in a small jar, keep it in your purse, and use as needed ‘on the road’. You can add a little ‘spell’ such as: Mother salt, take away from me all that destroys me and doesn’t belong to me, and return it back to its source. Or use your own words.
Some practice walking with salt in socks or sleeping on salt for 3-9-21 days, as it is supposed to clean you from hexes. Unfortunately, as great as salt is, it is not that powerful. Salt works for our energy body as soap works for the physical body.

To clean objects, place them in salt for 12-24 hours, if that’s acceptable.
To wash ‘toxic trace’ off your laundry, add to it half a palmful of salt and a few drops of lavender essential oil.
Doors/windows/mirrors/floors LOVE a salt water wash. Just keep it moderate if you have pets and kids.

A protection ‘ring’ is acceptable for an already cleaned and blessed place. Mix sea salt, clove tea, and cinnamon powder (turmeric/lavender/pine are suitable as well) into a paste and ‘draw a line’ around your apartment perimeter. Works for a year. If you have pets, just mix sea salt with water.

Burn salt on cast iron and clean the space around you with fumes only in well-ventilated rooms. You can add herbs and alcohol, as you prefer.
Same way practitioners diagnose the place’s health, and if burning salt becomes black, it’s a sign of alert, or you just need to clean your pan 🙂

To absorb excessive ‘toxic trace’ during the practice, add a mixture of salt, wormwood, and pepper (the composition may vary due to your preferences). For example, for candle magic, you can place this mixture between candles.

Salt at footsteps. My grandma did it all the time when a ‘bad person’ left the house: she threw some salt on the footprints that person left. In an apartment, you can leave it for a night and then vacuum it up and throw it away. If you have a house, well, some people say it’s bad to land, but neither my great-grandmother nor my grandmother ever had any problems with that.

Black salt. Red salt. Green salt.
Sea salt. Himalayan salt. Rock salt.
In my personal practice, there’s no dramatic difference.
Herbs make a difference. Just charcoal – not. Ashes of something/someone bear a purpose.
If it makes you comfortable – dye salt as you wish.

DO NOT USE SALT/SPICES/HERBS YOU’RE COOKING WITH.
Keep ingredients for ‘craft’ purposes separate.

NEVER TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS OR KEEP WORKED-OUT SALT IN THE HOUSE FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS.
Put on gloves and throw ‘used salt’ right away.

Practice. Create. Envolve.
